About the final project for: Introduction to 3D Design and Modeling with Blender

Introduction to 3D Design and Modeling with Blender

“This is my final project of the course on Blender, which consists of creating a cartoon character. It's a nod to classic video games. Its design is inspired by game consoles and devices from the 90s. For its creation I use all kinds of references from images of retro consoles such as Atari, Commodore or Spectrum plus illustrations of games like the classic "Bomberman". As you can see here:

Here you can see the sequential process that I have been following:
I like to approach these projects as an exercise to brush up on all the design basics that a modeler needs to keep in mind. Simple modeling always creating the bases with a "blocking" taking into account first of all the silhouette of the character.
After modeling all the pieces I start messing with materials. Something simple but that helps me to differentiate parts and define the character visually.
Photo 4 Then when I have all the visuals defined for the character, I move on to using a lighting set more in line with what I'm looking for. I finish adjusting the materials according to the scene.
I like to dress the scene in a way that helps tell more about my character. I always try to add very simple things that keep the same style and contribute something.
Finally I use the on-camera settings to emphasize the focus on the character. Something subtle, nothing complex, that contributes but does not distract.
This is the result of the process of working with some very basic adjustments of the image so as not to alter the render much.

Partial transcription of the video

“Final project This is the last lesson. I say goodbye to you with a summary of what the entire course has been. I introduced myself first. You have seen my influences as an artist, what marked me in my work. We have also made an introduction to Blender. We have seen what the interface is, how the windows are made up. We have seen the 3D viewer as well. Then we have returned to the interface, to manipulate it, to build it, because you can work in Blender. We also work 3D navigation around the environment to start moving. We have then created the first objects. After we have manipulated the ob...”
