Knitting, tying knots, dyeing, creating compositions from nothing... all these activities around the fibers are those behind the Pluumbago textile projects, a decoration brand founded by Ixchel Yué. Her creations range from tapestries, lamps, chairs, table runners or cushions, to other custom orders such as Las cortinas de mil colores for designer Erick Millán or Tapiz gigante teñido for Casa Mazzoco in Calakmul, Mexico.
In this course, Ixchel will teach you the Fiber Emballage technique, with which you'll knit wrapping threads, a beautiful way to add more color and texture to the final project. In addition, you'll work with cotton fibers dyed by you, learning the very basic steps to dyeing.

What is this course's project?
You'll create a 50-by-90-centimeters decorative tapestry using the Fiber Emballage technique. The base of the piece will be made with cotton cords previously dyed by you. What you learn in this course can also be applied to larger pieces, such as curtains and backdrops.

Ixchel Yué is a textile artist from Guadalajara, Mexico, who 3 years ago founded her own decoration brand called Pluumbago. Through the use of frame loom and macramé techniques, she’s dedicated to creating woven pieces for hotels, cruises, interior designers, and homes inside and outside Mexico: CDMX, Madrid, New York, and Chile, among others.
She also teaches macramé workshops in various cities in Mexico and, together with two colleagues, founded a collective exhibition of textile art in which they seek to experiment with fibers and move from creating utilitarian pieces to real works of art.

Gostei muito do curso!
Me chamou para cá ser uma proposta diferente de macramê, no formato e na proposta de cores. O processo de tingir os fios de algodão é uma etapa interessante, pois isso amplia nossas possibilidades criativas com a peça e também permite que façamos materiais de cores diferentes sem ter que comprá-los. As explicações são bem dadas e a professora conduz de uma forma a deixar os iniciantes menos exigentes e mais voltados ao macramê como um relaxamento, uma diversão.
