“So in this lesson, we're going to make a monochromic black and white version of the final piece. I find this helps, especially on the more complicated illustrations. to lead us into color, it gives us a greater sense of the depth and kind of breaks it down between what's in the background, what's in the foreground, and also things like shadows and highlights. I'm just going to use three tones, white and almost black, and a tone in between. The first thing I'm dropping in is the shadows on the lettering. And this is really quick process.
