About the final project for: Specialization in Professional Screenwriting for Film
Specialization in film scriptwriting
“Final Project: Complete Film Script: From Idea to Final Page Objective Create a complete film script that reflects your unique vision as a storyteller. Throughout the process, you'll apply what you've learned about narrative structure, character building, and intentional scene writing and dialogue. This project will be an opportunity to combine technique and creativity in a story that only you can tell. Project Description Every great story is born from a spark, an image, an emotion. In this project, you'll give shape to that initial intuition by developing a complete script for a short film or the first act of a feature film. Inspired by the methodology and sensibility of Julio Rojas, Jimena Eme Vázquez, Alejandra Moffat, and Daniel Tubau, you'll build a story with a solid foundation, vibrant characters, meaningful conflicts, and scenes that feel authentic. You'll work from intuition but also from analysis, learning to listen to your characters as Jimena suggests, to maintain a clear structure as Daniel teaches, to develop in-depth outlines as Alejandra suggests, and to experiment with minimal narrative units as Julio does. The result will be a professional, coherent, and personality-filled script. Project components 1. Idea and concept • An original premise with its own identity • A synopsis that clearly summarizes the conflict and tone of the story 2. Applied techniques • Using the step outline to map out narrative progression • Construction of solid scenes and coherent sequences • Effective dialogues that reveal relationships and emotions 3. Personal style • Narrative choices that reflect your voice as a screenwriter • Development of themes and universes faithful to your vision 4. Presentation • Complete script in professional format • Analysis document that supports your creative decisions Steps for development 1. Define your premise • Find the heart of your story: character, conflict, and transformation. 2. Write your synopsis • Summarize the entire arc of your story in one or two clear, thought-provoking pages. 3. Develop the steps or treatment outline • Trace the progression scene by scene, ensuring logic and emotion. 4. Build your characters • Create cards with their motivations, evolution, and key relationships. 5. Work on your scenes • Write them considering rhythm, tone, dramatic tension and internal structure. 6. Write and review your dialogues • Make sure each voice sounds authentic, with intention and rhythm. 7. Format your script professionally • Use standard scriptwriting rules. 8. Write your analysis document • Reflect on your choices and the path you have taken. Final delivery • A detailed premise and synopsis • A step-by-step outline or narrative treatment • Main character sheets with their arcs • A complete and well-formatted film script • A creative analysis document (max. 2 pages) Closing text You've gone through the entire writing process, from the initial spark to the final full stop. Every scene, every line of dialogue, every decision is part of a story that only you could tell. Now you have a polished script, ready to share with the world. And most importantly, you've gained the confidence to continue writing with your own voice, depth, and freedom.”
