“In this lesson we're going to learn how to gather fabric. Essentially, gathering is simply reducing a length of fabric along a line of stitches to create a shorter length of fabric with really soft, delicate, romantic pleats. The technique that we just learnt, shearing, is also a way to gather as that reduces a longer length of fabric into a shorter length with those lovely little ruched details. That's also gathering but just a different way of doing it.
