Create compositions full of letters and colors with watercolors
Words, through their shape and color, can acquire a new meaning, and specialists in calligraphy and lettering such as Lucia Nolasco-graphic designer-so they say. Passionate about letters and handmade work, she has developed great projects for brands such as Studio A, Channel, Kipling, Ibis Hotel and Innato, with whom she was recognized at the Pentawards 2015 awards (London). With his experience he will introduce you to the wonderful world of compositions with lyrics.
In this course you will learn the basics to create compositions with words and phrases using a water brush and watercolors.
What's included in this course?
You will start by getting to know Lucía Nolasco (Lunol), who will tell you about her career - from her first contact with letters to her most outstanding projects - and her main influences.
You will know in detail the materials you need to create compositions full of letters and color from scratch. You will learn to recognize the different types of brushes, watercolors, cards, papers, and even how to organize your work table to work comfortably.
Lunol will teach you to work calligraphy based on your experience. You will learn about the different basic calligraphic styles - Script, Sans Serif and Serif -, some useful elements that predominate in their compositions, to then perform a series of exercises that will be less to go releasing the hand with the brush.
You will choose the lyrics of a song or poem to develop your composition. You will analyze the message and the rhythm of it, to give more strength to some words about others in the piece. Next, you will create a color palette and make sketches until you find the final design.
Once you have your sketch ready, you will pass it to the final paper with pencil and little by little you will be painting the letters, adding the necessary effects to embellish your calligraphic composition and give it a more personal touch.
To finish this course, Lunol will teach you how to create some quick watercolor backgrounds and it will take you to experiment with salt and acetone, among other materials.
What is this course project about?
You will make a composition inspired by a song or poem that you like. You will start from the calligraphy with a water brush and watercolors, giving color, texture and movement to your composition to achieve a more powerful message.
Who is it for?
To all those who have a weakness for the letters and want to apply them to creative projects or are in search of a hobby to disconnect from the routine.
To do this course you will not need previous knowledge of calligraphy, although if you already have experience you will know other tools for your creative process.
What materials do you need? Round brushes, liquid or pail watercolors, paper towels, water containers, 2H pencils, white sheets, watercolor paper and an eraser.

Lucía Nolasco, better known as Lunol, is a Peruvian graphic designer who is passionate about calligraphy, lettering and typography.
Her passion for letters was discovered in Buenos Aires (Argentina) in 2012, where she studied with renowned teachers such as Silvia Cordero Vega, Marina Soria and in Lima (Peru) with Jaime de Albarracín and Claude Dietrich. In addition to workshops with Ale Paul, Yani and Guille, Martina Flor and Gemma O'brien.
He has worked for large projects of branding, retail, publishing, events and packaging, including the project "Innate", a package where 80% of the design was calligraphy with flexible pen, which was recognized with a bronze in the Pentawards 2015 awards (London) with Infinito Consultores.
