“In this lesson, I will begin working with tone, using a brush, a paper towel, and a pastel to tone the paper and establish the shadows. So let's get started. The first thing I'm going to do is I'm going to load my brush with the pastel. The way I do it is by just rubbing the fibers of the brush into the pan pastel, and that creates a powder over the surface. What I want to be careful about is to not overload the brush.
