“ Colour This is why I'm starting with the bright colours, so I can just go around them with the darker ones. I usually don't paint the skin. I keep it the colour of the paper, just empty and do the outline with the coloured pencil with the shade of the colour of the person I'm drawing. It shows the colour of the skin a bit, but I like to keep it as the colour of the paper. Sometimes when the watercolour dries, you can see that some parts are too bright, so I'm adding another layer here and there. After completing a degree in graphic design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw and in Bologna, she began working as a freelance illustrator, using mainly traditional mediums like watercolor, gouache, and colored pencil. Heavily influenced by the ‘90s aesthetics of her childhood, she plays with vivid colors and textures to capture the world around her.
Daria has illustrated children’s books like Little Women, Little People, Big Dreams: Dolly Parton, and Big Wide Words in the Neighbourhood. In addition to creating custom portraits for countless families, she has also collaborated with brands such as CASETiFY, Anthropologie, Hallmark, and the Keith Haring Foundation.
