“Hi, my name is Daria Solak. I'm a Polish illustrator based in London. Welcome to my Domestika course. Drawing was my favorite hobby from the beginning. I love to spend hours creating my own world with coloring pencils. When my parents wanted a second of silence, they used to say, go to your room and draw. So I kind of feel like it's their fault. Many members of my family are creative. but no one really persuaded the art career. It's been over 10 years and my grandma still asks me when I'm going to get a real job. After completing a degree in graphic design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw and in Bologna, she began working as a freelance illustrator, using mainly traditional mediums like watercolor, gouache, and colored pencil. Heavily influenced by the ‘90s aesthetics of her childhood, she plays with vivid colors and textures to capture the world around her.
Daria has illustrated children’s books like Little Women, Little People, Big Dreams: Dolly Parton, and Big Wide Words in the Neighbourhood. In addition to creating custom portraits for countless families, she has also collaborated with brands such as CASETiFY, Anthropologie, Hallmark, and the Keith Haring Foundation.
