“Remember, my process is to work from mid-tone (grey) to get the general shape, lift the highlight, and add the darks. Because of this method, I need to fix the mid-tone before applying the darks, plus charcoal powder can only create grey and can't go very dark in one go. So, we need to spray fix and add a second or third layer to gradually get the dark area darker. This is the theory behind it! ”

He also received a New Blood Award from D&AD in 2009 and the Larson Juhl Award from the Society of Wildlife Artists.
