“In this lesson, I'm going to show you the stages of clay and their properties. So the three stages of slipcasting clay is the leather-hard in the mold, ready to come out, the dry, and the first-fired bisque piece. I'm going to show you the leather-hard piece coming out of the mold. You'll see that it's shrinking away, so it's drying. And the slipcast clay is a little bit more brittle than when we're hand-building with bags of plastic clay. So this is in between wet and drying, so we call that leather-hard.
