Partial transcription of the video

“What Lies Beyond Sunflower Paper In this lesson we’ll talk about what exists aside from sunflower paper. The first thing is opaque papers, which we’ve already talked about a bit. They're made of papyrus stems, Peruvian lily stems, also from corn leaf, for example, or pineapple leaves. For these you can use a concentration of more or less than 8 or 10%, if they are fresh. If they are dry, as we talked about before, you have to use a higher percentage of soda. You can start by trying about 15% and see how the fiber works. Artisan and Paper Specialist

Camila Moncada is the creator of Jáku Papel. She originally studied fine art, although she is currently focused on her studies in physics. What most concerns her is to think through matter about what time is and how it shapes the universe, both from the point of view of art and science.

In 2013, she delved into the world of handmade papermaking from organic waste. She discovered a wealth of possibilities when she realized that paper can be obtained from any vegetable fiber, each one lending their unique qualities to create different kinds of paper. After several years of experimenting, she created Jáku in 2016, a company dedicated to making handmade paper and paper products.
