About the final project for: Illustrated pattern design: Eye catching vector illustrations

How to create illustrations and patterns for all kinds of applications

“Thank you so much for trusting me to guide you through this adventure! I hope you had fun and learned a lot, but most of all, I hope you gained some new insights into how to make collage-like illustrations and patterns. Before starting to create your project, keep in mind you’re making a vector collage of your own world! So feel free to do whatever your imagination says. Now, let me show you an example of what I would like to see in your presentation: Your World! Choose any scene or story you like with fun little details. Natural, cultural, abstract, anything goes; you’re having fun playing around with the shapes. Shapes and Vectors Create a set of simple vector shapes. You can either draw them in vector or vectorize drawn shapes or shapes cut from paper.

Colour Palette and Sketchs Create a consistent color palette based on a few colors. Then, move your shapes around to sketch your main subject; this will be the center of your pattern.
The Pattern Choose a way to repeat your pattern and expand your design to the borders.
A pattern is like a flexible wrapping paper. Think of unique ways to use your pattern; use it on products, clothing, wallpaper or furniture, whatever you want. Therefore, I would love to tell you; don't be afraid and play around as much as you want! Trust your instincts, and you will be able to create an incredible eye-catching pattern. Once your project is ready, share it on the forum by clicking the "Create your project" button. I will look at your publications as soon as possible and answer any doubts that need clarification. In the meantime, I encourage you to see what your fellow students have been up to and comment on their posts! See you soon!”

But before you leave, I'd like to give you some tips for your final project. Always work on something you find interesting to stay curious. Never draw to follow the latest trends. Then it might become a chore. Remember, when making the elements for your collage, you can use any technique you want. Be it drawing, cutting, tearing shapes from paper, or find stuff in the world around you. When making your first pattern, keep it simple. It's easier t...”
