About the final project for: Stylized Character Illustration: From Reference to Drawing

Stylized Character Illustration: From Reference to Drawing

“Thank you for taking this course! I hope you have learned some valuable skills that will help you create mind-blowing pieces of art. Now it's time to complete and share your project. Remember, it's all about having fun! Be kind to yourself as you navigate this lifelong adventure. Don't give up and be patient. I strongly suggest you take the time to gather inspiration and create a unique character that tells your story. Here are the main steps to follow: Mood Board and References Make a mood board with your character's personality in mind. Look for inspiration in the form of dresses, hair, accessories, color palettes, and anything else. Using 3D character models, create a posture and lighting reference. Combine all the references into one image. Rough Sketches Sketch out references, like thumbnails, using your mood board as inspiration. Have a good time and go crazy! This step is all about coming up with new ideas.

Colored Sketch Choose your favorite thumbnail and tighten the design with more detail. Then, using the Lasso Tool, add your flat colors.
Shadows and Light Using the Multiply Layer, add light and shadows to make the drawing feel three-dimensional. Look at the 3D model you created as a guide.
Rendering and Final Touch-Ups Remove rough strokes and blend out light and shadows. To end, paint in finer details to give more depth to your character.
I can't wait to see the beautiful character you created, so don't forget to share it in the forum. You can do so by clicking on "Create your project". Make sure to share both the final result and the steps that have led you to it. I would be more than happy if you would participate in the forum, comment on other students' work, and interact with the community. Let's encourage each other to be our best and work together! I will also be there as often as I can to give you feedback and answer your questions. See you there! ”
