About the final project for: Digital Illustration of Fantasy Animals for Beginners

Digital Illustration of Fantasy Animals for Beginners

“Congratulations! You have now come to the end of this Domestika course. I want to thank you for your participation and hope you gained valuable insight, confidence and inspiration for your illustration projects. Remember that you have complete creative freedom with your animal illustration and don't have to follow my sample project to the letter. Use my process as inspiration and guidance to create your very own masterpiece! Whether you're a beginner, intermediate, or pro, try to add a personal touch to your illustration by giving us a glimpse of what's important to you, what's on your mind, or what's passionate about you. Here I have briefly summarized the most important steps you have to follow to create your illustration. Brainstorming Brainstorm the subject of your animal illustration and think about how you want to translate it graphically.

The mood board Find references from the internet and compile them into a mood board.
The sketches Create 3 quick composition sketches to plan how you want to arrange your image elements.
The line drawing Choose your favorite sketch and use it as a template for a refined line drawing. Use your references to properly depict the animal's anatomy.
The basic colors Create layers for the different visual elements of your illustration and fill the most important shapes with basic colors.
light and shadow Plan the lighting of your picture. Consider what your primary light source is and if there are other light sources. Also determine whether the light is direct or indirect, how intense the brightness is, and what hue it is. Then first paint the light into your basic shapes with a large soft brush and then define the light and shadow more and more with a harder, smaller brush.
The finishing touches Paint over more and more of your line drawing and render your image with details, highlights, filters and effects.
I would love to see the results of the course exercises and your final project! Simply click on "Create your project". Don't forget to add your step-by-step pictures. It would be great if you could also provide a brief description of each step. In the forum you can exchange ideas with other students, comment on their work and make contacts. I'll also be popping in and interacting with the community from time to time, so feel free to ask questions about how I work, my tools, or anything else that interests you. And if you want to follow my journey as an artist in the future, please follow me on my social media channels! Stay healthy and creative! ”
