Creation of Hand-painted Modules Digitized in Photoshop
“We have reached the end of this Domestika course. Thank you for following my lessons. I hope I was able to tell you how a passion can become a job and to have conveyed to you the satisfaction you feel in creating designs that can make a space more welcoming, more pleasant or more flamboyant... depending on the choices you or your client will make ! During the lessons I gave you some suggestions starting from my experience and my elaborations, but you try to find your style and your method. First of all, start from inspiration, which for me has become a cross between an exercise and a game. Try turning what you see around you right away into a pattern. Choose the theme of your project and create the moodboard. Draw the elements that will make up your module: I recommend starting from 5 subjects to create a harmonious and not too chaotic composition. Remember: always think about a repeating motif and not about a separate illustration. This concept of repetition seems trivial, but the first few times it could destabilize you. Finding a good balance in repetition is a matter of experience and sensitivity, but with practice you will be able to get the hang of it. Remember that the structure of the drawing and its shape must already work on the sheet of paper. However, you can modify the colors in Photoshop, adding textures that will give the drawing a "handmade" appearance. It doesn't matter which painting technique you use: in this course I use empty markers to obtain a worn effect, but you choose your favourite. The important thing is to draw elements that can be easily cut out once digitized. Enjoy seeing your form take shape in Photoshop. You decide whether to build an even or odd composition. Then create the two color variations: seeing the design on a light or dark background will help you read the shapes and give your customer the choice. Now that you know the method, customize your final project and give it your own flavor! Develop your own style and enjoy seeing your form applied to various media, not just wallpaper! And if at the beginning the pattern isn't perfect, don't give up: write to me in the forum and I'll be happy to help you! Let your drawings travel and create infinite modules with infinite creativity! ”
