Meet Santiago Avila, a motion designer based in the UK, and your teacher for this course. Hear about his creative journey in the world of animation and his career as a freelancer. Then he shares his favorite artists and studios who’ve inspired his work.

Santiago first walks you through designing your main figure and their features in Illustrator. Get an overview of shape-layers in After Effects and how to generate playful animations. Then see how to import your initial designs from Illustrator to After Effects to animate them.

After your base animation is ready, Santiago shows you how to add details and polish it using blurs, noises, and other effects. Once your animation is locked, learn how to prep your fills and strokes to add different effects to them.

Time to take your character to the next level! Using the noise-based tools of After Effects, Santiago shows you how to try out three different styles: a brush-stroke and ink technique, an airbrush approach, and an old-school halftone vector look.

Wrap up the course by seeing how to add the background layer and play with different colors. Finally, edit, composite, and export your supercut animation before sharing it with the world.
