Once you feel that you know what you want to create, draw a sketch of your design. Think also of a color palette, but keep it limited.

The 2D Composition Go onto Adobe Illustrator and work on the 2D design of your emoji. The 3D Shape Switch to Cinema 4D and create the 3D base of your design. Then, add lighting and texture. I recommend not to overuse Photoshop and 3D effects. Keep it simple.
