About the final project for: Ink Illustration: Develop Your Visual Language

Ink Illustration: Develop Your Visual Language

“We have now come to the end of this Domestika course. I want to thank you for your participation and hope you gained valuable insights, confidence and inspiration for your own projects. Now it's time to work on your course project. Maybe your illustration is already finished or you still have to finish it - maybe you even want to draw a new picture! In any case, I want to remind you that I don't want you to follow my example project to the last detail, I want you to let your own inspiration run wild and find your own style. I find it very helpful to approach the work in such a way that frustration and disappointment do not arise, but rather focus on growth and development. So free yourself from the claim that the result (the finished picture) will be a masterpiece and instead devote yourself to the whole process with dedication and joy - then the result is good just the way it is! Here I have summarized the most important steps you have to follow to create your illustration as briefly as possible. The content Think about which idea or which feeling you want to express in your picture and create a suitable collection of terms. In a way, the feeling that you want to convey is the basic motivation. The composition Pick a few terms and draw quick, small-format compositions. Pay attention to the proportions and the position of the elements and see how the terms come across visually. Then choose a composition.

The sketch Transfer the sketch to DIN A3 paper with a pencil. You can first draw freely and loosely and then work out the picture in more detail.
The final artwork Complete the loose pencil sketch with ink or a fineliner. I recommend having a certain balance between direction and freedom in the final drawing: stick to the set composition, but feel free to make changes as the image evolves.
The coloring First think about how the color distribution will be, mix some colors and try them out on a piece of paper. Try to create depth and contrast with the different layers of paint, define the incidence of light and create shadows.
Once you are happy with your illustration, you can upload your project to the forum. Simply click on "Create your project". I'm very excited! If you have any questions during the process or want to share ideas, please use the forum! There you can not only present your work, but also exchange ideas with other course participants and find inspiration. I'll stop by as often as I can and give you feedback and advice. I wish you lots of fun drawing! ”

“final project Thank you for taking the course. I hope you learned something. Let's look again at what we did in this course. First we got to know different materials. Pencil, ink, colored ink. After that you created your own list in the sketchbook, with terms, words and elements that are personally important to you. In preparation for the final project we decided on some terms from our list and made small compositions from them. Finally, we created the final drawing. We have a detailed drawing with fineliner put on paper and colored with colored inks. I told you something about my approach ...”
