About the final project for: Illustration Techniques to Unlock your Creativity
Illustration techniques to unlock your creativity
“I hope you have filled all the pages of your notebook, so we have reached the end of our project. In the video I give you a summary of everything we have learned throughout the course. Thank you for having come this far. I wish you liked it and bring new things in your backpack! Follow the steps at your pace with the techniques, processes, games, tools that you like most so that your illustrations have life and strength. No doubt you are a great explorer of blank worlds! I hope this trip has helped you to lose the fear of drawing. You can use the techniques you have learned for any assignment or project, combine them, create your own. Everything I mention throughout the course are processes or approaches that work for me, based on experience, error and learning. Use what you use to create, but also find your own way, style and approaches. We are each different and that is precisely what excites us when we see the creations of others: the unique, the different, the own. Do not get obsessed with style or perfection, it's not worth it. In my experience the best findings occur when the mind relaxes and we leave room for error and experimentation. I really want to see your creations and walk through your universes! Share with the whole community what you have practiced and learned. Feel free to comment on the work of other colleagues. See you in the forum, there we can discuss your illustrations. And if, in addition to the Domestika community, you want to share your creation with everyone, you can upload photos of your work and your process to Instagram with the hashtag #AdolfoSerraDomestika Thank you!!!!”

“FINAL PROJECT Now that we're at the end of the course, let's make a summary everything we've seen. First I introduced myself, so you could get to know me, and then I showed you my work as an illustrator. We also talked about unblocking creativity through play, and we commented on my role models in art and talked about the importance of finding your voice as an illustrator. I told you how important it is to look for influences beyond illustration. And we saw that the sketchbook is the perfect tool to experiment in and that, by playing and making mistakes, we can find new creative tools. And,...”

Adolfo Serra
A course by Adolfo Serra
Adolfo Serra (Teruel, 1980) studied Advertising and Public Relations at the Complutense University of Madrid, but it wasn't long before he decided to follow his childhood passion for drawing by reconnecting with pencils and watercolors at the Escuela de Arte 10 in Madrid. Since then he's been no stranger to colors, papers, textures, and stories.
He loves to experiment with techniques, play with materials, and, above all, tell stories with his art. He considers himself a trailblazer of blank pages who maps uncharted territory with illustrations for children and young adults.
His illustrations have been featured at the Bologna Children's Book Fair (Italy), Biennial of Illustrations Bratislava (Slovakia), Sharjah Children's Book Fair (United Arab Emirates), Ibero-American Illustration Contest (Mexico), CJ Picture Book Awards (Korea), and the International Exhibition of Illustrations for Children in Sàrmede (Italy).
His wordless version of Little Red Riding Hood has been published in Spain, Germany, France, and Mexico, and has won numerous awards. He also won the 19th A la Orilla del Viento Award for illustrated album from the Fondo de Cultura Económica.
