Painting and realistic illustration with Procreate
“It has been an absolute pleasure to teach this course in Domestika, it has been a few weeks of hard work that, I hope, will be useful for the development of your professional career. I must admit that at first I had many doubts about the final project, I was worried that a still life was not attractive enough for the Doméstika community, but after thinking a lot, I realized that thanks to this exercise I can teach you to create materials advanced as wood, rubber, porcelain, metal, glass, fire, smoke ... a lot of techniques and materials that you can use in your future projects. Throughout the different units we have touched on all the phases of creating a realistic illustration, from the initial drawing to the final export. I have done this course with a lot of love and I can say loud and clear that I am proud of the result, I hope you enjoyed it. But ... this has only just begun! The part that makes me most excited about this course is your feedback. I'm looking forward to seeing your projects, answering your questions, helping you move forward ... I think we can create a very interesting micro-community of Procreate here where everyone, including myself, can learn a lot. If something is not clear to you, if you have doubts or if you want to know more ... do not cut yourself, ask in the forum of the course, I will be happy to meet you and answer your questions. As I told you in the introduction, Procreate has changed my life ... I hope that this course will help you, even if only a little bit, to you too. See you in the forum James. ”

“In this lesson we are going to do a review for all that I have taught you throughout this course. Remember that we started configuring the workspace to adapt it to your needs. Then I showed you how to create and configure the six brushes that you have used throughout the entire project. And then I've taught you the basic gestures, I'm sure you've been saved many hours of work. Once we had already configured our workspace, we started the process of sketching, where, if you remember, at the beginning what we did was to fit the objects with a very simple drawing. And then we went, in different...”

Jaime Sanjuan Ocabo
A course by Jaime Sanjuan Ocabo
Jaime Sanjuán is a digital designer, illustrator, and painter. He studied fine art at the University of Castilla-La Mancha, Spain, where he learned traditional artistic techniques such as oil painting, pastels, clay modeling, etc. However, he decided to swap his brushes and studio for an iPad and the Procreate app, which give him the possibility to explore countless techniques without needing much space and using only his fingers.
Jaime has always been fascinated by realist and hyperrealist painting. It's this aesthetic that he always seeks in his paintings and illustrations, which are full of double meanings and impossible realities. This very particular vision and a highly refined technique have earned him international recognition such as the Communication Arts Award, the American Illustration Award, and the Latin American Illustration Award, enabling him to see his work exhibited in galleries and museums around the world.
