About the final project for: 3D Weaving and Yarn Trimming for Wall Hangings

3D Weaving and Yarn Trimming for Wall Hangings

“We've reached the end of this course! Thank you for joining me. I hope you enjoyed it and now feel inspired to experiment and practice the techniques you learned in each unit. It is now time to work on your project. This could mean finishing the weaving you started while completing the exercises, or you could start a brand new project! Either way, I strongly suggest you take the time to gather inspiration and make a unique project of your own. Make sure to keep track of your progress with different pictures of each step. It'd be great if you could also explain the choices you've made along the way and tell me if you have any doubts. This will help me understand your creative process and guide you better if you need advice. The Loom and the Design Gather the basic tools and materials needed, then build your frame loom and select your desired colour palette.

Starting Weave the flat-woven portion of the weaving then turn the open warp spaces into circles, triangles, and ovals according to the design.
The Rya Knots Fill the open warp shapes with rya knots according to the design and secure all of the knots and loose yarn ends on the back of the weaving in preparation for trimming.
Trimming Trim and sculpt all of the shapes so that they are all the same height and the edges are clean, even, and straight (or round).
Finishing the Piece Cut the weaving off of the loom, attach a wooden dowel through the loops at the top, and attach a string around the dowel so that you can hang it on the wall.
I would love to see what you made, so don't forget to share your project by clicking on "Create your project". I encourage you to contribute to the Domestika weaving community by sharing your progress in the course forum, asking questions, and commenting on others' work. I'll check in as soon as possible to answer questions and give you guidance. If you share your project on Instagram, don't forget to tag my account and Domestika's, and add the hashtag #AllysonRousseauDomestika. That way I can find your post much more easily! Happy weaving!”

“ Final Project Thanks for taking my Domestika course. I hope you enjoyed it and are inspired to experiment and practice what you've learned in each unit. Take your time with each lesson. I encourage you to create something that's entirely your own based on your individual tastes. Before saying goodbye, I'll give you a few final tips on creating your project. First, gather all the tools and materials you'll need for your final project and build your loom. I recommend you make several weavings so that you can practice all the basic techniques before you start your final project. Make sure to...”
