About the final project for: 3D Macramé for Botanical Wall Hanging

3D Macramé for Botanical Wall Hanging

“Congratulations! You have reached the end of this Domestika course. I hope you've enjoyed exploring the world of macramé. Thank you so much for joining me in this course; it’s been an honor to share my techniques with you. Now before we end, I’d like to remind you of some of the most important steps we gave throughout the course and that you should remember when you start doing your final project: Mood Board and Reference Search Look for references that you like or think are exciting and create a mood board. Always keep in mind the difference between seeking inspiration from other people's work and copying.

Gathering Your Materials and Practicing Knots Now it's time to calculate how much you will need for your project.
After you have worked out how much rope you will need, start practicing the knots.
Sketching and Choosing Colors First, make a representative sketch of your piece. Remember that it's not essential to look precisely how you want your final project to look because it's just a representation. Also, when you are sketching, think about the balance and plan the negative and positive space to make sure there is a nice flow to your piece.
When you finish your sketch, decide on your color palette by taking samples.
Selecting the Driftwood When you select the driftwood, you should consider the final piece. Try to get driftwood that it's not too curvy but also not too straight and something that looks organic and natural. When you are foraging for driftwood, it's essential to ensure that you're not picking up something that might be an insect home or part of the ecosystem. · Test the durability of the driftwood by doing a break test. · Clean the driftwood. · Sand any rough edges. · Make sure the driftwood is dry.
Knotting the Backdrop Start knotting your macramé backdrop. · Cut eight pieces of rope that are 10 feet long each (or 3 meters long each) and create two legs of the backdrop using four pieces for each leg. · Take the first piece of rope folded in half and tie a small overhand known in each end. Repeat that three more times. · Create diagonal clove hitch knots to create the pattern for your backdrop.
Creating the Leaves and Fruits Start creating different sizes of leaves with the other color ropes you chose.
When you finish, create macramé strawberries, blackberries, and blueberries, and add the leafy part to each different berry.
Adding the Leaves, Vines, and Berries Add the macramé vines and leaves to the driftwood macramé backdrop, and securely drape your vine. Design the placement of the berries and use a fishing line to attach the berries to your piece.
And that's all! Thank you so much for taking part. I can't wait to see your macramé project! You can share your project with us by clicking on "Create your project." Remember to share both the final result and the steps that have led you to it. It would be great if you showed a picture of each step and added a brief explanation about what you have done in each one. I will try my best to engage with the forum as much as possible. If you have any questions, be sure to ask them! I will reply as soon as I can, but in the meantime, I encourage you to interact with each other. Communication fuels creativity. So, don't be afraid to reach out and collaborate with others. But most of all, have fun! See you in the forum!”

“Hi, and thank you for joining me on this course. I first started doing macrame as a hobby and it's turned into one of my passions. So in this course, I wanted to share with you some of the techniques I've learned and developed over the years. For the final project, I showed you how to create three -dimensional sculptures using macramé knots. For that, the first step was to create a rough sketch to help you envision your design. Remember, it can be a very rough drawing. It's just an exercise to help you understand how many sculptures you will need, what colors you'd like to use, and how to c...”
