About the final project for: Lettering for Slogans

Experimental calligraphy

“We have reached the end of our tour, thank you very much for joining me on this adventure! Now it's your turn to work on your project (or finish it, if you had already started it throughout the course). To guide you, I am going to summarize the main steps to follow to carry out this project. Remember to save photos or files of your process (from sketches to the final result). I would like you to use them to explain what you did, how you did it and why. The phrase and the mood board Define the phrase you are going to design. Then, come up with the concepts you want this phrase to represent and put together a style mood board with brush lettering from the 1950s.

First tests and composition With pencil, make style explorations with 1 word in the phrase. Then, I composed different structures with containers for the entire sentence.
Brush phrase design With the structure already defined, do brush tests with different weights, heights, spacing and inclinations.
Final design Make the necessary adjustments and refinements. You can retrace the phrase or cut out and assemble the final sketch by hand. Finally, you can choose two paths: draw in pencil and neatly ink your phrase, or trace your final design with a brush!
Application Digitize your design, first scanning it and then preparing a file without a background so you can apply the phrase wherever you want.
Once you have everything ready, upload your presentation to the forum, clicking on “Create your project”. I will be attentive to the forum to respond as soon as I can to any questions that arise in the process and resolve it together. In the meantime, participate in the forum and comment on the work of others. Analyzing a classmate's work and seeing what decisions they made is a good way to continue learning. See you!”
