About the final project for: Freehand Sketching with Acrylic and Watercolor

Freehand Sketching with Acrylic and Watercolor

“Thank you for taking this course! It is such a privilege to share the way I see the world with you. I hope you've learned new methods and techniques and can now apply them in some way or form to your illustrations. It is now time to work on your project. This could mean finishing the illustration you started while completing the exercises or you could start a brand new project! Either way, I strongly suggest you take the time to gather inspiration and make a unique project of your own. Make sure to keep track of your progress with different pictures of each step. It'd be great if you could also explain the choices you've made along the way and tell me if you have any doubts. This will help me understand your creative process and guide you better if you need advice. Here are the main steps to follow: Sketches Choose the scene you want to paint. Explore the potential of this scene by creating thumbnails that play with composition.

Refine your thumbnail by redrawing and editing the image using a lightbox. You'll analyze light and shadows to plan the use of color and the configuration of the planes in the scene.
The Painting When you have your narrative, execute your image using acrylics and/or watercolor. First, work on the characters and then on the background, keeping in mind the division between cold tones and warm tones and the nexus they make so the colors integrate better. When what you did on the wet paper dries, highlight the first planes in your scene on the dry paper.
Last, add some final glazes, working in blocks of color, to finish defining the atmosphere of the scene and add extra life to your illustration.
Also, don't forget to digitize your illustration! You can edit the image in Photoshop as needed.
Remember that drawing is an intuitive process. Although this course gives you a step-by-step guide, this is just my way of working and not THE way. Use your own artistic intuition and make this drawing process your own. I want your drawing to tell me a bit about how YOU see the world. Naturally, your outcome will be different from mine. The key takeaway is: don't give up on your drawings. Think about the message you are trying to convey. What emotions are you trying to evoke? I can't wait to see your work and discuss all things drawing. Don't forget to share your project by clicking on "Create your project". You can connect with me on the forum. I'll respond to your questions and give you feedback as soon as possible! In the meantime, get involved with your peers! The forum is an amazing opportunity to give and receive feedback from fellow creatives. Let's start creating and sharing! Bye!”

“ Final Project Congratulations, you've made it to the end of this course. Thanks for joining me on this journey and learning about life sketching and painting. It's very exciting and such a privilege to share the way I see the world. I hope you take something away from this and apply it in some way or form to your illustrations. Now, I will review the steps for you to work on your final project. First, I taught you how to create sketches from life. Then we explored the potential of these sketches by creating thumbnails that play with composition. You learned how to refine your thumbnail by...”
