Tabara N'Diaye
A course by Tabara N'Diaye
Tabara N’Diaye is a creative designer, author, and founder of La Basketry. Tabara was born and raised in Paris but has been based in London for more than 10 years. Her family is originally from Thies in Senegal, which is a part of the country famous for its craftsmanship. As she spent more time reconnecting with her roots in Senegal, Tabara mastered the ancient craft of basket weaving.
After establishing a career as an event manager in her twenties, Tabara made it her mission to share the joys of Senegalese craftsmanship with the world. She founded La Basketry in 2017; a lifestyle brand and online boutique that sells handcrafted baskets and home accessories. The first La Basketry collection was stocked at, among other places, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. In 2019 Tabara also published Baskets; a guide to the art of basket weaving featuring 15 projects you can try at home.
