“Adding plants to your composition Once your character is done, in this lesson, we'll paint the plants that will surround it. As I've only marked out large areas without copying detailed flower sketches to the watercolor paper, I'll let my imagination run free while I paint, by keeping the initial sketch in mind so I know which direction to take. I start painting the general shape of the flowers with a size 3 brush. After that, I'll start adding the leaves, then the details.
