About the final project for: Pattern Construction for Beginners: Basic Patterns and Darts

Pattern Construction for Beginners: Basic Patterns and Darts

“ We have reached the end of this road. I hope you have enjoyed the course a lot and that what you have learned will help you create new projects and let your creativity fly. Before we say goodbye, I want us to review the key phases of the project. It would be great if you briefly explain what you have done in each one and accompany the explanation with one or more images. Mood board Collect and organize the references you have found looking for inspiration for your project: color, spaces, materials, music, etc. So you can have it as a guide throughout the development of your project.

Taking measurements Take the measurements to be able to build your pattern. While you are doing it, remember to write down the data on the measurement sheet that I left you in the additional downloadable resources of Unit 2.
Creation of the base pattern of the body Transfer the measurements to your base pattern. You will need to do this for both the back and the front pattern. I have made a symmetrical pattern, so I have only had to work with half of the body and I have been able to save time and materials.
Choice of fabric and cut of the pieces Choose the fabric with which you are going to work on your project. Next, cut the pattern on the fabric following the tips I gave you in the Unit 3 "Fabric and Cutting" lesson.
Sewing Sew the pieces of your project. As you have seen in Unit 3, I have done it by hand. I recommend that you follow step by step the advice I gave you about this process in the "Sewing" lesson.
Changes of clamps and finishes With the base pattern ready and corrected, it is time to pass it to a clean template that we can use to make transformations. Next, you need to do the dart transfer using the techniques I taught you in Unit 4. Before working on the base pattern, it's helpful to practice on other pieces of fabric to test and familiarize yourself with the techniques. Finally, work on the finishes of the entire garment to give it the final touches.
Now share your final project with the community by clicking on "Create your project". Remember to share both the final result of your garment and the steps that have led you to it. I am looking forward to seeing your project and giving you feedback. Although I ask for your patience, I will try to access the forum as much as I can and what my professional projects allow me. Finally, I want to invite you to actively participate in the forum, not only sharing your progress, but also giving advice and trying to help the rest of the community. It sure is very enriching! See you on the forum!”

“Final Project In this video, I’ll show you my final project. I decided to make a top that involved some simple dart transformations. I encourage you to create your own garments using the techniques I showed you. When working on your pattern, always remember to check the lines. Enter the measurements in the table. Make sure the fabric is firmly in place before you cut it. When you transform the darts, make use of the different techniques I showed you to create your own designs. We've reached the end of the course. I hope you enjoyed it, and I look forward to seeing your work in the Forum. If...”
