Projeto Fio
A course by Projeto Fio
Projeto Fio was founded in 2017 by Ana Luiza Nigri, Marina Bittencourt, and Olivia Silveira, born out of their dissatisfaction with the fashion industry and their exploration of female-lead artisanship, and they've been questioning how things can be done differently ever since. The initiative focuses on training women across Rio de Janeiro communities and creating fashion collections in partnership with those women.
To date, they have trained over 40 women who now contribute to Projeto Fio with their artisan pieces, using embroidery as a creative language to tell their stories as well as a source of income. Each of the brand's garments and accessories has been embroidered using natural and biodegradable materials.
