Zélia Smith
A course by Zélia Smith
Since she was a little girl, Zélia Smith has been drawn to those pieces of embroidered fabric found at the bottom of a box at a garage sale. It was therefore quite natural that she would go on to study applied arts related to the fashion and textile trades. Her fascination with the stage led her to become a costume designer for national theaters and opera houses.
Despite her academic training, she likes to steer away from perfection to create exactly what she imagines in her mind's eye. In 2015, she launched an Instagram account dedicated to her small embroidered creations and quickly achieved great success. She then opened her own workshop and published a book on hand embroidery: Jungle Broderie, published by Marabout/Hachette.
