Portfolio Design with Figma: Self-Promotion for Creatives

“We've reached the end of this course! Thank you for joining me and trusting me. I hope I managed to encourage you in your journey through the world of design and helped you with creating your own online portfolio. It is now time to start working on your final project if you haven’t already. I strongly suggest you take the time to gather inspiration and make a unique project of your own. I will sum up here the main steps you need to follow to complete your project. Make sure to keep track of your progress with different pictures of each step. I would very much like to see that as part of your presentation. That would help me understand your creative process and guide you better if you need advice. Concept Start by looking for a concept. See if you have any existing material (images, texts, etc.) that you can use and want to add to your portfolio. If not, search for it! You can either use open access material from the web or collaborate with another creative.

Mood Board Once you have a concept in mind, gather inspiration from different online platforms. Save images as references and build a mood board with them. Experimentation You can now start experimenting with different layouts and styles. Come up with as many ideas and variations as you would like. It's easier to have to choose than being stuck with one design. Focus on the layout of your images and texts, on color, and on typography.
Structure When you feel you have enough choice to work with, define the structure of your presentation. Decide on a final grid, color palette, and typography scale. Then, put everything in order and see if it flows well and stays consistent.
Final Details You can export your project and prepare it for uploading it online. You can also add some animation to it if you'd like.
I am excited to see what you have created! Don’t forget to share your project on the forum. I’ll do my best to respond to each and every one of your comments as soon as possible. In the meantime, I encourage you to take a look at what others created for this project and comment on their posts, too. See you on the forum!”
