About the final project for: Introduction to Writing a Children’s Fantasy Novel
Introduction to Fantasy Novel Writing for Children
“We have reached the end of the course. Hopefully now you have the necessary skills and knowledge to create an engaging story. Now it's your turn to show me what you've come up with. Share your story and remember to follow these steps: Choose the story idea you want to write up into a synopsis. Write a biography of your main character, identifying their goals and obstacles. Create a plot circle, marking out the beginning, middle and end of your adventure. Now imagine what needs to happen between those three points. Draft a short synopsis of around 150-300 words only, forcing yourself to summarise the story structure succinctly and clearly. When the story is clear, rewrite adding colour, detail and tone, inspired by books you love. You should finish with 750-1000 words of engaging, characterful prose envisioning a book that you want to write and we all want to read! Here you have my synopsis:
If you have any questions, please post them in the forum and I'll try to answer them as soon as I can. I also encourage you to participate in the community by commenting and providing constructive feedback to your fellow students. Thank you for joining this course and see you in the forum! ”Partial transcription of the video

Please, only use what feels helpful an...”

Piers Torday
A course by Piers Torday
Piers Torday is an author, playwright, and educator from Northumberland, England. As a children’s author, he is dedicated to harnessing the power of imagination through creative writing. The art of writing has always been present in Piers' life: He wrote his first cartoon at age seven, which was about a superhero called Super Sid, and won a competition in a local newspaper. His father, the late Paul Torday, is the author of Salmon Fishing in the Yemen, which was later adapted into a film.
For Piers, writing children’s novels is a way to engage young readers, inspire them to ask big questions, and shape the minds of tomorrow. His most notable work includes The Lost Magician, The Frozen Sea, The Last Wild Trilogy, and There May Be a Castle. Piers also received the Guardian Award for Children’s Fiction in 2014. In a review for the trilogy, The Times states that Piers is “the new master of books for children.”
