About the final project for: Contemporary Weaving on a Frame Loom

Weaving

“Here we are at the end of this Domestika course! Thank you for following my lessons, I hope I managed to make you passionate about this wonderful world of weaing! Now I show you how to present your final project, so that the whole world appreciates your progress and every detail of your creative process. First, choose the object you want to simplify and reproduce on your mural weaving. Tell us your choices.

Make the drawing by hand or on a tablet, smartphone or graphic tablet.
Once you have chosen dimensions and colors, transpose the design onto a cardboard, which you will use as a preparatory cardboard for your tapestry.
With the techniques learned during the course, you weave the shapes respecting the lines drawn on the cardboard and on the warp.
Finally, cut your weaving from the frame and transfer it to the wall mount. Finish the job by closing all the loose garments and get ready to photograph it.
Now, prepare your artwork for styling, take the photo and edit it to your taste. Show the final result to the whole community!
I recommend, involve the other people who have taken the course, commenting constructively on their work. I will try to give you some feedback too, but I ask you to be patient if I am not very present or if it will take a while before I can do it. Thanks again for choosing my course. I hope it helped you and you enjoyed it!”

“Final project Hello and welcome to the last video of your Domestika course. Thanks for being with me on the course. I really hope you enjoyed it. Remember that you can always write me on the forum at any time. You are now ready to create your own artwork. Weaving is a slow and meditative creative process and this is precisely its charm. For this, when you make your first weaves start with simple and not too complex shapes. Work slowly and check the stitches and weaves in each row. The final project of this course will, of course, be a weaving inspired by a work of art. In the course we lear...”

Weaver and Textile Designer

Ilary Bottini is a weaver and textile designer. After graduating with a degree in modern languages from the University of Urbino, she began her career in the communications field in Paris, where she lived for nearly a decade.

In 2015, she created Color Pastello, a blog devoted to her two greatest passions: decoration and interior design. Coincidentally, she took a beginner's course on weaving taught by a French designer around the same time and instantly fell in love with the art form.

In 2020, she left her career in communication behind and started weaving and teaching full time. She even launched her own line of weaving looms. Her efforts have paid off as her work was selected for the 30th annual MiniArTextil exhibit. She currently collaborates with brands, architects, and publishers on artistic projects where she creates woven art and shares her knowledge of weaving.
