Tapestry and Knitting for Garments and Accessories

“It has been a pleasure for me to teach you throughout the course. I hope you have really enjoyed learning the different techniques and accompanying me throughout the process of preparing my final project; a unique scarf, integrating rice stitch fabric and tapestry technique. Next, we are going to go over the key phases of the project that I want you to share with the community. It would be great if you showed me a picture of each phase and added a brief explanation about what you have done in each one. Inspiration First, I have created a mood board with the images that inspire me. I have collected and organized evocative shapes, colors, textures, rhythms and images.

Color and texture palette Now comes the time to choose and group the fibers according to their color. In Unit 2 I gave you tips to do it. Before starting to knit my project, I made a notebook with samples with the stitches learned both in knitting and in the tapestry technique, mixing yarns of different nature. In this way, by having the samples, we can determine what works and what does not work for us to continue experimenting on the tapestry sample in the rack. Here I share a photo of the textures and colors that I chose, you can also show, if you feel like it, your samples.
Sketch and design I have captured an abstract idea on paper from the inspiration of my mood board. There can always be variations on the fly, but this sketch can be very useful as a guide throughout the process.
Fabric of your piece The moment of truth arrives. As you saw, I created the specified length and width of the scarf in moss stitch, in this case 20 cm wide and 1.50m long. Next, I wove the tapestry as I taught you in the lesson "Creating the applique on a loom". Then I attached the scarf to the tapestry with the wool needle. Lastly, I added fringes to the end of the piece to give it the final finish. In Unit 3 of the course we follow this phase of the project step by step. Remember that you can always watch the video lessons again to help you with your project.
Now share your final project with all of us by clicking on "Create your project". Remember to share both the final result of your garment and the steps that have led you to it. I am looking forward to seeing how your project has turned out. Also, I want to invite you to actively participate in the forum by sharing your progress and giving advice and trying to help the rest of the community. It is sure to be very enriching for everyone! See you on the forum!”

“Final project Hello and welcome to the end of this Domestika course. I hope you have learned a lot from the fascinating world of design and knitting with needles and loom. Since I was little I have really enjoyed manual work. It is a very magical moment when something appears between your fingers, something that was previously in your imagination. Sharing my passion with you has been a pleasure and I will be excited to see your final project for this course. In my case, I have knitted a unique scarf integrating rice knitting and tapestry technique. To start the final project, the first step...”
