About the final project for: Curating Instagram Content: Find Your Niche

Curating Instagram Content: Find Your Niche

“Congratulations. You have reached the end of this Domestika course. Thank you for taking part and I hope you feel ready to curate your account! To guide you on this journey, let's do a quick recap of the necessary steps to complete your project.

  • Decide on what subject your new curated account is going to be about. Find your niche within that subject and use that to inform the curation process. Write a short paragraph of what your niche is to help you keep in mind the focus of the account. Remember it may take time to find and develop the niche into its final form.
  • Find an account through hashtag searching or the discovery tab which has relevant content to you, and then follow the trail down the rabbit hole to find more accounts and content. Set up a saved folder on Instagram to keep track of your newfound content. Now that you have lots of content saved you can start to curate that selection into a more concise set of images. You may want to start a new collection of shortlisted items, from your long list of curated images, or edit them down as you populate your scheduling calendar.
  • Pull the relevant information from the original post. For my posts, that’s the designer and the photographer, and then anyone who worked on the project, items in the scene, etc. I do this by having Instagram open side by side with my scheduler.
  • Create a few banks of hashtags that you can then use for the different nuances of your posts. Remember to have a good spread of long tail and short tail terms. Click to add a hashtag bank to each post.
  • Build your aesthetic using a scheduler and the preview function to see what your grid will look like when all scheduled posts are live. Lastly, analyse your data, find collaborators, and enjoy the networking as your reach and engagement spreads throughout Instagram!
And that's a wrap! I can't wait to see what you produce. You can share your project with us by clicking on "Create your project". Remember to share both the final result and the steps that have led you to it. It would be great if you showed a picture of each step and added a brief explanation about what you have done in each one. So I can give you feedback. See you there!”

“ Final Project Thank you for choosing my course. We've reached the end. Now you should be ready to start your own final project. But before I say goodbye, let's go through some of the steps again. When it comes to defining your subject, remember to specialise and build your individual niche. If your subject is too broad, it could be difficult to build your engagement. Make sure you choose a format that makes it easier to find your content. Curating is more about finding things that fit your aesthetic rather than creating everything yourself. Use the analytics as the basis for making decisi...”
