A course by Icarus
Paloma Araneda, better known as Icarus Paloma, was born in Quintana Roo, Mexico and studied illustration at the UNAM's Faculty of Art and Design. Her three greatest influences as a child were mythology, Japanese animation, and scientific illustration, which she got from her parents who are both biologists. Her work has been exhibited in Canada, Slovenia, and various cities across Mexico, as well as in editorial publications and catalogs including her finalist piece for the First Pictoline Biennial of Illustration in 2018.
In tattooing she has discovered a space for exploring the creative illustration process with that extra step of transferring it to the skin. She is inspired by the narrative aspect the designs take on through the people who wear them. After gaining experience at a large studio, she founded her own, which she currently shares with another tattoo artist.
