“Planning and Outlining In this lesson, we'll plan our outline. It’s very important to plan every step of your painting. Now we’re going to plan how to apply our techniques to each element in this reference. I drew this to map out my painting, but you could, for example, map out yours using tracing paper, applying graphite to the back. Then, with the printed reference on top, you trace the edges, and you’ll have your drawing on the paper. You can also use a light box. I even have a tip for a DIY light box.
