Screenwriting Essentials: Create, Write, and Develop for TV

“Congratulations on reaching the end of this course! Thank you for accompanying me on this joint writing journey. Before you leave, I would like to share with you some of the things I would like to see in your Final Project. First off is your "Why": Why do you want to tell your story? Having a purpose will make writing so much easier, as it will help you staying motivated. After that, it’s time for characters. Watching your favorite TV shows can help you understand your protagonist’s motivations - an understanding that will later help you to create your bullet point outline. Then, flesh out these bullet points into scene headings and descriptions. They will serve as your blueprint when you actually start writing your first TV script. And that’s about it! Finally, don’t forget that sharing your work is half the battle when it comes to writing (as well as any other craft). Therefore, please don’t hesitate to share your work in the Domestika forum. I will do my best to respond with feedback as soon as I can - so please stay tuned. Your patience is most appreciated! In the meantime, your fellow students taking this course will certainly be there to help you as well. I can’t wait to see what you’ve come up with. See you soon!”

Making this as specific and personal as possible, as it's going to connect you to your purpose. When you have a strong purpose, you are more likely to stay motivated. When creating your characters, you want to think about wha...”
