“Materials To draw comics, all we really need is pencil and paper. I recommend a hard, medium pencil with HB or 2B lead, or a technical pencil. Some people like blue lead. That's fine, it gives the finish pages a nice blue underline and you don't have to erase the pencils after the inks are done but it's quite hard and it takes some time to get used to. I'll be using a 2B pencil for about 90% of all the artwork I'll be doing on the pages during this course. For paper, I recommend Bristol board. It takes pencils and inks really well with little to no texture. It's thicker than regular paper, ...”

Sam Hart is an Anglo-Brazilian comic book artist based in São Paulo. He fell in love with comic books at a young age and has been reading, drawing, and writing them ever since. He has drawn stories featuring characters such as Robin Hood and The Power Rangers and had one of the graphics novels he illustrated adapted into a film starring Oscar-winning actress Charlize Theron.
Aside from creating comic books of his own, Sam regularly teaches illustration and comic book art and is passionate about helping others create their own realities through visual narratives.
