“Watercolor Techniques Now we'll cover different watercolor techniques and textures that you can achieve. I will also cover common mistakes to avoid while achieving these effects. Let's start with a grid on our watercolor paper. I'll be making tick marks on the sides of the paper to establish my grid. It'll be three squares by three squares. I'll be using another piece of thick watercolor paper as a straight edge. It doesn't have to be very accurate all we're doing is making nine simple boxes or squares.
