The basic composition of the oil paint Oil paint, at its basic level, is just pigment and oil, a drying oil. Let me show you this pigment, which is yellow ochre. I'll be mixing it with linseed oil. Born and raised in Mexico, Remi Cárdenas started his artistic career at the University of Veracruz, where he studied painting and graphic design. He quickly discovered his passion for traditional painting techniques, which led him to study in places like The Academy of Realist Arts in Toronto, Corcoran College of Art + Design in Washington DC, the Arts Students League and at the former Grand Central Academy in New York.
He has done various commissioned work like scientific illustrations, book covers for Editorial Planeta publishing house, and large scale paintings for Museum of Natural History in Mexico City. In addition to painting, Remi also hosts regular drawing workshops.
