About the final project for: The Art of Woodcut Portraits

The Art of Woodcut Portraits

“Dear student, we have reached the end of the course! I want to thank you for following me this far. This is the time to talk about the final project. Let's get straight to the point: make 3 or more portraits using the woodcut technique. Here are some important steps to carry out your project: Separate some references from portraits (family, friends, artists, musicians, sportsmen, writers, animals, etc.).

Draw these portraits in pencil on a sheet of bond paper, on a sheet of tracing paper or even directly on MDF. You can express yourself freely in this drawing or just draw the most striking lines through carbon paper or tracing paper.
Transfer the design to the MDF, in case you didn't draw directly on the wood.
Paint the design with India ink to create contrasts and textures and give the image graphic weight.
With the die ready for engraving, work with the gouges.
Transfer the proper amount of paint from the glass table to the MDF board.
Finally, do your editing: number, sign and date your prints.
Now I propose that you creatively make 3 or more portraits that can be of musicians or other artists you like. The important thing is to use creativity and take advantage of the knowledge that has been covered here. I would like to thank you for participating in this dive into the woodcut technique. Please be patient for responses regarding the course, I will try to see and comment on your final project and assignments whenever possible. Thank you very much and see you later!”
