The French Tomi Ungerer has always inspired me because he put the world on paper with just a few strokes with sharp-tongued and humorous drawings. I have always found Ralph Steadman fascinating because he seems to draw chaotically and wildly, but he has created wonderful aesthetically-sound and intelligent book illustrations. The inventor of Donald Duck, Carl Banks, accompanied me through my youth and introduced me to the beauty of comics (and ducks). ”

If I think back, I think the first and one of the really big influences in the beginning was obviously comics. For example, Donald Duck. Most people don't know that the inventor of Donald Duck was not Walt Disney, this is just the company. A guy called Carl Barks did this and he made such a wonderful figure. I think it's such a humoristic and an emotional way to tell stories with short episodes and short adventures. And I was really a big fan. I think this was the first step for me to come into this ...”
