About the final project for: Illustration and Character Development with Watercolor

Illustration and Character Development with Watercolor

“We have reached the end of the course. I hope you have learned much more than you expected. I also hope that I have inspired you a bit and that now you are more eager than ever to create a wonderful illustration. I invite you to carry out your final project. Take this as an opportunity to practice. It does not matter if you are not an expert. We are all learning here, so give it without fear of being wrong and be patient. I am excited to see the illustration that you will make with the help of this course, but I do not want to see just the result. I also want to see the process, so I can give you better feedback, and if in the future you decide to see old works, you will see how you have improved. I show you an example of how I would like to see your process. What are you looking for? Define a list of keywords of what you are looking for in your character. Once the list is ready, start looking for your references and create your mood board. Look everywhere possible for inspiration, so you will have a wonderful guide to which you can turn.

Your sketch Start working on your sketch. Add the details that you consider necessary, and once ready, transfer it to the support with the help of a light table. You can start to test a little what colors you will use, what techniques go best with your character. Take time to think about the details you would like to adjust or add.
The color With all of the above, it is time to start applying color. Start with the face. Remember that this part of the illustration is going to take you some time, so be patient, and keep in mind that any detail that you add to your face will make it more wonderful. Afterward, you can add volume and definition with colored pencils. When you complete the face, apply the same procedure with your character's clothes.
The illustration Take the time to make some accessories that accompany your character, this will add originality and personality. With everything ready then take your illustrations to Photoshop and make the final touches to make it look its best.
Finally, don't forget to keep practicing and consult your catalog as your project progresses. Start this new adventure without fear of making a mistake and having a lot of patience. If you make a mistake or it doesn't go as expected, don't worry, nothing happens ... it's a matter of practice. Create more characters, make more accessories, take up some lessons from the course, do whatever it takes to improve over time. Remember that I will be in the forum to clarify all your doubts and accompany you in your process, so I ask you not to forget to upload your final project. I also invite you to see what your colleagues have done. You never know who can inspire you or help you learn more, so take advantage of this wonderful community like the one we are creating here at Domestika, see how they carry out their processes, and if they have inspired or have you loved their work, tell them! Once again and before saying goodbye, thank you for being part of this course and allowing me to be your teacher. I will be looking forward to seeing your project! See you soon!”
