“So we’ve smashed our way through the course. We’ve learnt how to use references to enrich your artwork, explored how colours work together, and used compositional thumbnails to efficiently explore lots of ideas in a short space of time. We’ve looked at the principles of stylisation and how to bring a unique edge to your own drawing. We’ve learned skills in Photoshop and how to use your drawings as a guide to creating digital artworks. Then we’ve played with building and adding texture, looked at evaluating your work as you go, saved out your work the right way for your needs, and how to share it with the world. With your own final project, I really want you to try to push yourself. Find a subject matter that interests you see if you can find a way to bring it to life with creative composition, full of brilliant characters or objects and all with a well-crafted beautiful, and harmonious colour palette. Try not to follow my approach too closely, and find something that feels relevant to your own interests. Your own decision-making processes are what make you, you. They’re what make you creative in the first place. Perhaps with your own project, you could look at illustrating a specific location that’s important to you, or play with visualising a historical event? Even better, maybe you can highlight a social issue that needs some attention/ Maybe you just do a weird homage to your own cat, showing off all of her strange behaviours or sleeping positions. Make something that feels uniquely you. I hope you created something that you’re really pleased with. Then share it. Social media is brilliant for getting your work out there. And don’t forget to upload it onto Domestika. You can use this amazing community of creators on here to get feedback on your work and share knowledge. That’s what this is all about. And at the end of the day, I’m just one man with one opinion, so it’s great to get feedback from a variety of sources. Art is a subjective thing, so not everybody is going to agree on everything. Thank you so much for taking the time to follow this course. I sincerely hope you enjoyed it and learned some skills that can enrich your own practice. I would love to see what work you come up with off the back of this. And I welcome any feedback on what you enjoyed about the course, or if you would like any clarification on anything too. Maybe you have some tutorials you might wish to see from me in the future? I will aim to look at all of your comments regularly and respond when I can, but please be patient. I am a working creative and I have to balance many projects at a time. Plus two small children, band practices, D&D campaigns, and a love of baking. I hope you all stay happy and healthy. All the love, Owen. ”

“Final project We've finished the course. Thank you for letting me share my experience with you. Now we will review all of the steps taken during the production of my final project. I first showed you the materials and digital tools that I use to create my compositions. You saw how I find reference. Then we did some basic edits in Photoshop. You saw how I customise my workspace and keyboard preferences on my computer. I recommend you do the same to improve your workflow efficiency. We designed our palette. I suggest you limit your colours. We started to be creative and explored using composi...”
