“Long and short stitch: Painting with thread In this lesson I'll show you how to use long and short stitch. Long and short stitch is perfect for stitching flora, fauna, animals, wildlife. You can create flowing stitch directions that move with the object but I'll show you how to use split stitch as well. For this demonstration I'll use the four colours from the butterfly embroidery pattern. So I have 400, 780, 3829, and 3828, but use any colour palette you want for this practise.
