About the final project for: Realistic Embroidery Techniques

Realistic Embroidery Techniques

“Thank you for participating in my embroidery course! I hope you enjoyed embroidering your timeless creation. Your support really means a lot to me and I am honored that you chose this course. Through this course, you have learned how to needle paint, but more importantly, you have gained patience and confidence in your own embroidery skills. Keep in mind that if you make a mistake, you can easily undo the stitches (or sew over them). There may have been times when you doubted yourself, but remember, you are a unique person and there is no one like you in the whole world, you’ve got this? :) I believe in you! You are an artist. Now that you’ve completed the monarch butterfly embroidery, I encourage you to make designs of your own creation! Use the method I used to transfer a pattern to the fabric as well as techniques for choosing the color thread that works best for you. If you don't think you are ready to make your own design yet, you can try making the butterfly again with a different and personal color pattern and add some floral details, a famous quote, an inspirational phrase, or even the name of someone important to you, if you are thinking of giving it to someone as a gift. Or all of the above at once. Most importantly, have fun, experiment, and be patient with yourself. I also have other instant download pattern tutorials available in my Etsy shop if you were interested in trying to embroider a bee, mushroom, pansies, a moth, and more... I want your final project to be like you, something unique and special. If you go for the butterfly, add a few more details, as I said before. Another thing you could try is to make a similar insect or even a totally different insect - I want to see your entomological skills! Whatever you do, upload photos of the process to the forum, because what matters to me is to see the journey you've taken, the decisions you've made, and how you've solved all the difficulties you've encountered along the way. Let me go through the essential steps you need to master to make a realistic embroidery. Here we go! First of all, after selecting the threads and materials you'll need, you have to know how to transfer the pattern correctly to the fabric you're going to embroider the design on. The fabric has to be as smooth as a drum skin. However, the adjustment has to be gradual, tightening the skin little by little inside the hoop and playing with the fabric outside the hoop. This will give you a fabric that will allow you to trace the pattern easily. You have to be careful with the small details, so trace with care and precision. Use a direct light source to speed up the process. It will be a great help.

From the transfer to the fabric we move on to painting with thread on it, with the help of your needle. Draw the lines (which do not have to be perfect) in pencil and then prepare the thread well, wetting it with a little saliva so that it passes well through the needle, to begin to go over those pencil lines anchoring the needle from behind. Repeat this process with all the colors you are going to use to "color" your design. As you add colors and change the orientation or direction of the stitches, the design will begin to take on texture and, ultimately, begin to come to life. Divide the design into sections and do the outline first and then embroider from the inside out. I find that with a winged insect it is best to embroider the forewings first and then do the hind wings and body. However, each design is different and you have to decide accordingly. What does hold, in any case, is the idea of tracing and then embroidering.
When you have your final project ready, click on "Create your project". Remember to share both the final result of your garment and the steps that led you to it. This way I can give you feedback. If you have more questions or need some encouragement, I invite you to take a look at the forums and see what your classmates are saying in the homework section of each unit. I'll be there too, of course, and will do my best to respond promptly, but bear with me, folks. If you decide to post your work on networks or spaces like Behance, add the hashtag #monarchbutterflyDomestika. I'm really looking forward to seeing the result and the process involved. I'm sure I'm going to love them. Happy sewing, fellow embroiderers! ”

“Now we've reached the end of this course, I'd love to take this opportunity to review what we've learned and give you some tips. So hopefully now you've got the embroidery bug and you'll start working on your own creations. In this course, I wanted to teach you how to use thread to create realistic artwork. This is a wonderful technique that can be applied to whatever inspires you. Nature and insects are my thing. but you can apply it to whatever you like. The very first thing you need to do is gather the materials. There's no need to spend a lot of money on the materials, just make sure th...”
