About the final project for: Unique Ceramic Plant Pot Creation

Unique Ceramic Plant Pot Creation

“You have reached the end of the course, now that you know my creation process you will also be able to create original pots to give home to your beloved plants. I hope you enjoyed the course, as much or more than I did doing it for you. Now we are going to review the development phases of the final project. I will be waiting to see what you have created. Remember to share both the final result and the steps that have led you to it. What plant? Everything starts from this point. Take a walk around your surroundings or think of a plant that drives you crazy with love. Do you already know what it is? I chose an air plant, they are very peculiar plants that have a lot of strength and that personally, I love them. But, you can choose the one you want.

Mood board This creative resource is wonderful for landing our ideas. Creating a mood board is creating a visual universe of the designs that we start. Ask yourself, what is inspiring you to create a new home for your plant? To play around with the type of plant I chose and its peculiar shape, I was inspired by a jellyfish shape.
Hands down The moment of the truth has come. There are tons of kneading techniques, just do the one that's easiest for you! Remember that the most important thing is that you do not have bubbles, so you can ensure that your dough is ready to work. Remember to do your test cut! This way you can see if your dough is ready to be molded. Once you have the dough ready, it is time to start building your model to later create your mold. Take into account your measurements so that your plant has enough space in its new home. What will your base figure be according to your design? Mine was a sphere. Shape your dough using the technique with which you are most comfortable, I used the pinching technique.
The mold, casting and polishing The mold will help you create more pieces of your model, it may take time to carry it out, but I assure you it will be worth it. For my project I only had to do two parts, but each model has different needs, make sure you make the necessary ones for yours, if you have any questions, remember that we are all here to help us. Is your mold circular, square or what shape is it? Mine has a circular base. Remember to be careful when casting plaster. Once you have it ready with the cast, make the necessary keys and be careful when you open it. Remember that for this process I leave you a detailed document with the step by step. If it is ready, your mold begins to reproduce the pieces. How do your pieces look?
Textures and decoration Just as your plants have personality, ideally their homes also have one, for this you can add some texture. Let your imagination fly! Add the texture that you feel makes match with your plant, or just add that texture that you fell in love with and put on your mood board, I showed you just a few of the many textures you can make. Also think about the colors you want your piece to have. You can make one that has different colors, be sure to cover the spaces that the textures you added could create. Keep in mind that to apply under enamels, you must always do it when your piece is in the bone state, later you can take it to its first burn. Or if you want you can carry out a traditional enamelling, you can use any of the techniques that I teach you or use another that you know, if you used a different technique, tell us what it is called and what it consists of.
The move At this point you have already taken your pot to its second burning and now it is ready to receive your little plant. So, transplant it to its new home, tell us the considerations you took to make it look like the plant you needed and wanted. How does it look in your new home? Show us!
And voila, you have a new home for your plant! Remember that patience and persistence are key in the ceramic creation process, you can always start from scratch. The time invested invariably leaves us learning, practice makes perfect. If you had any complications, also share it with us to learn more together. I invite you to see the projects of your colleagues, if you have any feedback to give them do it, always taking care to do it with respect. After all, we are all part of the same community and we are learning together. One last tip, observe and be inspired by nature, even the everyday objects that surround you, don't limit yourself, you can create anything you can imagine! Before saying goodbye, do not forget that the forum is open for you to ask any questions you may have, I will be on the lookout and will respond as soon as possible. I thank you infinitely for sharing your experience and project, rest assured that it will enrich us all. I already want to see the incredible home you have created for your plant! Thank you and see you later!”

“Final project Now I will give you some recommendations so you can upload your final course projects. Since you know the sizes and needs of plants, you can be inspired by their shapes, their needs to create your mood board. I recommend that you visit a nursery and get inspired and observe a lot which plant you like the most. Since you have a favorite, you can think about how this can be an extension of your design. It is essential that you have all your materials ready to start. Remember that I will leave you a list of where you can get them. However, you can enter the Forum and see where ot...”
