About the final project for: Contemporary Portraiture in Watercolor

Contemporary Portraiture in Watercolor

“We have reached the end of the course! Thanks for walking me here. We've seen all the aspects that will allow you to create a more personal watercolor portrait. It is now time to put these techniques and knowledge into practice in your personal projects and give them an identity of their own. I remember the main tips I gave you throughout the course and that you should keep in mind when you do your final project: • Keep using your materials until you know their possibilities and limitations. • Choose photographs that you identify with and that have good technical characteristics. Don't just copy the photographic record, put your personality and style into your work. A photograph is just a starting point. • Carry out small tonal studies and color schemes, they will help you to overcome difficulties before moving on to a final project. • Try to balance your work with concrete elements and more abstract elements. • Practice these techniques on a regular basis. Initially you may encounter difficulties and frustrations, but over time they will become more and more natural. Here I leave a suggestion on how you can present your project: Drawing

Technique and knowledge are fundamental in any artistic activity. There are, however, aspects that cannot be conveyed in a conventional way. So I leave you three suggestions: • Fall in love with what you do, enjoy and want to create. No matter the aesthetics or the means, nothing is done without passion. • Be persistent! The work and experience ultimately bear fruit and allow us to gain greater confidence. • Find your way. Art is always an introspection, the best artists are not necessarily those who best master techniques, they are above all those who are able to discover who they are and how they can bring to the world what has always been contained within them. During the course we took a walk together, but now it's time to use what you've learned and continue your own journey. These techniques and knowledge are not an end in themselves. They are a tool that you can use at the most opportune moments and that you can add to what you have already mastered. Discover new ways to feel fulfilled as an artist. Do not be afraid to take risks, to experiment, in order to obtain a work that does not necessarily reflect the portrayed individual! In each work we have to put a lot of ourselves, in each work we build our artistic identity. The end of the course is not a goodbye, I await your final project with curiosity. Tell me about the challenges you faced, the difficulties you felt or the unexpected moments caused by the magic of watercolors. We will support each other as a community in love with watercolors, commenting on the works presented, exchanging ideas and impressions. I will be available on the forum for any questions you have whenever possible! Thank you for joining me on this journey… And good paintings! See you soon! ”
