About the final project for: Textile Screen Printing: Design and Print Your Patterns

Textile Screen Printing: Design and Print Your Patterns

“We have reached the end of the course! It has been an intense and fun process, I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. This is a very complete course, which includes an intense process of design and also manual work, therefore, I think you must be patient and dedicate time to each of the phases to progress in your final project. Next, I am going to remind you of the steps I have taken to make mine. DESIGN First of all, we have to look for the idea that will backbone the design of our fabric, looking for inspiration for it from different sources. Afterwards, you have to spend time sketching and testing and, finally, turning your proposal into a pattern of repetition or rapport. Mood board First, I have looked for the theme around which my design would revolve, always keeping in mind what uses it could have. I have been inspired by Japanese kimonos because they have a fascinating and visually attractive world of prints.

Sketches This is a very important process that I think is worth spending a lot of time on. I have done different sketches and color proofs, and have compiled them so that I can choose what best suits my main idea.
Rapported Next, it's time to turn my proposal into a repeating pattern. I have decided to make a rapport from a very simple basic shape such as the circle. In Unit 3 I showed you how to do this process both in Adobe Illustrator and manually. I started working in black and white, but then I started working on color, testing my pattern with different combinations of the colors that I defined on my mood board .
STAMPING After setting up my workspace and preparing the tools and materials for continuous screen printing, it's time to get down to business with the most exciting process for me: continuous screen printing or “Lyonnaise”. Preparation Once I have made the screen ready for stamping after development, I have prepared the table records, as I taught you at the beginning of Unit 5.
Stamped With the ink already prepared, it is time to roll up your sleeves and carry out the stamping process as I taught you in lesson "Stamping" of Unit 5. When you have your brand new printed fabric, you will have to think about how to present it in society, and this has a thousand different possibilities, so it is time to unleash your creativity!
Now is your turn. Click on "Create your project" and share both the final result of your fabric and the steps or phases that have led you to it. You will see that with the tricks and instructions that I have been sharing during the course, everything is much easier than it seems. I have taught you how to design my prints, what my creative process is, and you also know a little more about the things that I like and stimulate me. The interesting thing is that now you adapt this knowledge to your world and interests. Choose a theme that excites you and think about what your precious fabric can become. Maybe you are interested in turning it into a garment or fashion accessory, or you are more interested in decoration, spaces ... or perhaps you would love to see it converted into a notebook or stationery notebook. Think that it can be turned into a utilitarian object and also into an artistic piece. A whole world of possibilities opens up to you! I wait for you in the forum, where I will review your tasks and doubts. I ask you to have a little patience because my work is very absorbing and I do not have all the time in the world, but we are connected and I will be aware of the activity of the forum. I also ask you to comment on the forum, it is great that you help each other, sharing in the forum will make us all richer and I am sure you have a lot to contribute. See you soon! ”

“Final project Now, the time has come to say goodbye. I want to tell you step by step what we have done so far. In this course I have guided you through the design process, from the idea, the inspirations, the sketching, until we get to how to turn our proposals into a pattern of repetition. You have seen how to do it manually or digitally with Illustrator. You also now know how to do color tests to find the most attractive combination. From the design phase, we have moved on to the stamping phase. Screen printing is a technique where you can immerse yourself and you have a lot to explore. I...”
